Araucanía Yarns, located in Santiago, Chile, is a group of artisans and designers dedicated to the dyeing of fibers for weaving and knitting.  The company emerged when a mother and daughter joined their talents and experience with the goal of introducing these traditional products and their unique style to the world outside Chile.Each fiber is carefully selected to offer the best textures possible from providers around the world including Patagonian wool, Peruvian alpaca, Turkish angora and Egyptian cotton.

Berroco – Six Generations of Quality.  In 1810 Warren Wheelock’s three times great grandfather opened the first of the Wheelock Mills in rural Massachusetts. In 1968 the Wheelock family formed a new handknitting subsidiary called Stanley Berroco, a name forged from the names of three business associates.  This firm became one of the largest importers and wholesalers of handknitting yarns, patterns and supplies in the United States.  They import yarns from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, New Zealand, Japan, Brazil and Uruguay.

Ella Rae  - Handknitting has always been a part of Leanne Prouse’s life as has design, a skill handed down from generation to generation.  She went out on her own in 2004 and developed the Ella Rae label in association with Knitting Fever.  Ella Rae produces an exquisite range of yarns for handknitting, supported by their publications full of inspiring designs, easy to read patterns and stunning photography.  They feature classic wool, novelty and basic cotton, and cotton, silk, and bamboo blends.

Frog Tree Yarns is a not-for-profit company that was developed as a tool for supporting educational and environmental projects throughout the world.  Its founders believe that talented, hard-working artisans should receive a just wage in order to provide a dignified life for their families.  A variety of eco-friendly yarn is imported from Bolivia and Peru.

Blue Heron Yarns, located in Easton, Maryland is the Beverly/DC-area connection we had been looking for! This mother and son team design colorways and patterns and dye it themselves.  They feature unique quality hand-painted yarns.
